Turntablism is a musical form which uses turntables not simply to play music but to create and improvise new music. At the 1999 National Campus/Community Radio Conference, a motion was passed committing the organization to work on establishing turntablism as a unique musical form and Canadian content. This is a resource for those working on this issue.
DefinitionsOur discussion has already generated a resource file on turntablism and audio art; and we remain open to more input and research.
Community-based radio stations are a key site of both creation and dissemination of turntablists' work, and we're working to establish a knowledge base rooted in our communities as the art form continues to grow.
