Program Title: NewFound Records - Ep. 458 - 1988 Part 1
Description: Previous episodes of NFR shone a light on recordings of Newfoundland music from 1958, ‘68, and ‘78. With this episode we begin the conclusion of that series by featuring Newfoundland & Labrador recordings from 1988.

In 1988, cassette tapes were beginning to replace vinyl, and local CDs began to appear for the first time. The City of St. John’s celebrated 100 years of municipal government in 1988. Mayor John Murphy began (and ended) his recording career with an appearance on a tape which marked the City’s centennial celebrations. Tune in and you’ll hear the Mayor and keyboard legend Ralph Walker on a couple of tracks from that rare tape.

Other artists on the playlist include Buddy Wasisname & the other fellers, Con Parsons, Simani, Brian Finn, Cormier Country, Pat Melindy & Ed Simth, and from The Big Land... The Flummies!
