Description: In this edition, we present Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Die Zauberflote, or The Magic Flute. The performance was recorded at the Nationaltheatre Munchen/Munich National Theatre in 1964 with the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra and the Bavarian State Opera Chorus conducted by Fritz Reiger with the vocal talents of Fritz Wunderlich, Anneliese Rothenberger,, Gertrud Freedmann, Ferry Gruber, Albrecht Peter, Karl Christian Kohn, Keith Engen, Erika Koth, and Hildegard Hillebrecht.

Die zouberflote, is an opera in two acts written by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart to a German libretto by Emanuel Schikaneder. Performed as a singspiel, an opera featuring both singing and spoken word dialogue, Die Zauberflote premiered in September 1791 at Schikaneder’s theatre, the Freihaus-Theatre auf der Wieden two months before Mozart himself died.
