Program Title: ‘What are they hiding?’ 9/11 families fight for U.S. documents
Description: On the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, the families of the victims will gather on the anniversary to honour the dead. Last month, they sent a sharp message to the U.S. President Joe Biden, asking him to skip memorial events unless he kept his campaign promise to declassify FBI documents related to the investigation into possible Saudi connections to the attack.
Last week, Biden announced he would order the US Department of Justice to review documents from the FBI’s investigation for declassification and release.
Today on Front Burner, ProPublica editor-at-large Tim Golden on why these families are going after the Saudi government, what they’re hoping to learn from these documents, and the secrecy that’s enveloped this part of the story for twenty years.
