Program Title: WINGS #30-21 Rape and Resistance in Bangladesh
Description: In 2020, massive public demonstrations led the government of Bangladesh to raise the maximum penalty for rape; but these university students say the problem begins with law enforcement failing to lay charges. They contrast common attitudes towards women and rape in their home country with the more feminist-influenced milieu in Canada. Includes discussion of marital rape, which is legal in Bangladesh if the victim is at least 13.

Host(s): Saima Choudhiry and Frieda Werden
Featured Speakers/Guests: Sadia Hossain and Saima Choudhiry are students from Bangladesh who study at Simon Fraser University in Canada. Robin Eriksson is the Program Coordinator of campus radio CJSF-FM.

Credits: Excerpted from an episode of the CJSF radio show Intra-Venus, which aired June 9. 2021
