Program Title: Fit to Eat for 2022 06 21 Kimberly Orren
Description: When you hear people talk about "local food," does the picture in your head include fish? Why do some folks talk about "fish and food" as if the two are not in the same category? Why don't we have just one basket for food - one that includes figgy duff and fat back and fiddleheads, as well as fish? Today's guest on "Fit to Eat: the NL Farm and Food Show" is fisher, educator, community organizer and all-round social entrepreneur, Kimberly Orren. We talk about some of her initiatives, such as "Fishing for Success," "Fish as Food," and "Fish in Schools." You'll hear her conviction that we need to celebrate the value of fish and the rich traditions of fishing communities. Among other things. She joins us from her home in Petty Harbour. The weather looks clear. C'mon along.
