Program Title: Routes & Branches & Beyond, show # 122
Description: This week's show, a set of February rambles, heads out of the blocks with a blast of Irish tunes, each more toe-tappier than the one before it, then settles in to music that gainfully employs the hurdy-gurdy, Irish/Quebec crossovers from a Toronto band (go figure...), a double entendre about eating mass produced pastries while driving, silky kantele playing from rural Finland, bluegrass warnings about lazy farmers, some cracking good singles from NL (no, it's not what you think...), trad-celt-rock from Georgian Bay, frenetic banjo blues, flamenco bagpipes (just what we need, right...?), zydeco two-steps and fiddle tunes meet the string quartet and they have offspring. Like one long run-on sentence that you hope never ends! Join me.
