Program Title: The Response - April 17
Description: The federal government has announced new financial programs to help the oil and gas sectors.
The Government of Canada will invest $1.7 billion to clean up inactive and orphan oil wells in Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia. The goal is to create immediate jobs in these industries and to meet environmental goals.
In addition, $750 million will be invested in an emissions reduction fund that focuses on methane.
There are new economic boosts for individuals and small businesses that do not qualify for the emergency wage subsidy or business account, like artists, innovators and athletes.
125 members of the Armed Forces will be deployed to help in Quebec's long term care homes.
