Program Title: Routes & Branches & Beyond, show #153
Description: This week on "Routes & Branches & Beyond," we get out of the stale air of the city and head for the rarefied breezes of the north. (I'm not quite sure what "rarefied" means, but it sounds impressive.) To help with this transition, we listen to the gravitas of baroque trad, a ballad for the most persistent of northern flies, back-to-back chanties about the allure of the northwest passage, a Dylan classic from two friends who lived through the beautiful chaos of the 1960s, musical poetry about the northern lights, a couple of songs about the solace (and lack of employment) in northern England, an ode to q questionable Edmonton neighbourhood, a fusion of Irish Gaelic and West African music and new Inuktitut roots music from the Jerry Cans. Join me.
