Program Title: Routes & Branches & Beyond, show # 176
Description: March - the only month that is a direct command (although May comes close). So, this week on "Routes & Branches & Beyond" I'm focussing on the march - the musical time signature and rhythm. Sure, I expand the boundaries a bit, but that is allowed during a month that includes the beginning of spring. I play marches to celebrate rivers, regions, people, mummers (not that mummers aren't people...), liberty bells, and movements (like the march of prohibition). From artists like Will Pound, Woody Phillips, Breabach, Teada, Raz de Maree, Suroit. the Plaid Family, the Slocan Ramblers, the Elastic Millenium Choir, Dave Swarbrick, Phil Ochs and Sweet Emma & her Preservation Hall Jazz Band. Also, a new release of celtic rock, captured in concert (remember those?)from Scottish octet Skerryvore. March over to the "play" button and join me.
